(Unpublished) Official URL: http://www.utas.edu.au/library/exhibitions/quaker/ AbstractFrancis Cotton emigrated to Tasmania with his wife Anna Maria and friend George Story in 1828 and settled on the property Kelvedon near Swansea which became a major centre for Tasmanian Quakerism. Anna Maria was a lapsed Quaker and initially her husband was disowned by the Society of Friends but after meeting Backhouse and Walker the couple and their growing family rejoined the Friends and Francis travelled 'in the ministry' around Tasmania and to the other colonies.
