Quadrat and species groupings are found to be related to substrate, altitude and aspect. However, the vegetation is shown to be essentially a continuum with sharp vegetation boundaries only occurring on geological junctions in the drier parts of the study area. The frequency and intensity of fire has a marked effect on the physiognomy of the vegetation, but probably has only marginal effects on species composition.
