Abstract

The AOK Bonspiel was a weekend mid-winter mountain bike ride organised by John Fridd of the Otago Daily Times. It was based in Naseby and ran in late July from 2000 to 2004. The 2001 Bonspiel stopped at St. Bathans on Sunday 29 July for lunch, which is where these photographs were taken. Being the middle of winter, the day was overcast and cold, although the previous day had made it to a rather unexpected 19 degrees! The wonderful scenery and hospitality more than made up for the conditions, however, and a great ride was had by all.
