  24. <meta content="This report presents an instrument designed as a profile of teacher
  25. achievement and teacher needs with respect to the probability and statistics strands in
  26. the mathematics curriculum. In developing the profiling instrument, I had two primary
  27. objectives. First, the instrument was to assist in the assessment of teacher achievement in
  28. the context of the adoption of professional standards for mathematics teachers. Second,
  29. the instrument was to assess professional development needs for teachers in the light
  30. of changes to the mathematics curriculum. The background for the development of the
  31. instrument is presented, followed by a description of the instrument and the results of
  32. responses to the instrument from 43 Australian teachers. Uses for the instrument and

  251. achievement and teacher needs with respect to the probability and statistics strands in&#13;
  252. the mathematics curriculum. In developing the profiling instrument, I had two primary&#13;
  253. objectives. First, the instrument was to assist in the assessment of teacher achievement in&#13;
  254. the context of the adoption of professional standards for mathematics teachers. Second,&#13;
  255. the instrument was to assess professional development needs for teachers in the light&#13;
  256. of changes to the mathematics curriculum. The background for the development of the&#13;
  257. instrument is presented, followed by a description of the instrument and the results of&#13;
  258. responses to the instrument from 43 Australian teachers. Uses for the instrument and&#13;
