In 1874 they moved to Tasmania and established an orchard at Sandford. He served on the Friends' School committee and edited "Australian Friend". William Lewis the eldest son studied shells and also painted Tasmanian wildflowers and another son Alfred created beautiful paintings of birds. " name="eprints.abstract" />
